Basic Indian Tea- Chai

Every India sips at least 2 to 3 cups of this beverage daily! And, I bet you that. Also, India is the second largest producer of tea in the world. The most famous one, being Darjeeling tea. But in this recipe, I'm using the normal tea that we get in all parts of India.

I know this is not a very complex recipe but still it is for the beginners! This is for all those who aren't from India, but like India tea or for those who want to impress their parents by making tea in the morning and serve them! This is not the masala tea. But, I will surely post the recipe of Masala tea soon. But for now, let's start with this recipe! :)

Prep Time: 2 min    Cook Time: 4 min

Serves- 1

Ingredients:

Water- 1 cup (fresh water)
Tea leaves- 1 tsp
Sugar- 2 tbsp (or as per taste)
Freshly washed Basil Leaves- 6 to 8 leaves
Milk- 1/4 cup

Method:

  1. Take a saucepan and add water to it. Heat the water until it starts to boil for a minute! Then add sugar and wait till the sugar dissolves.
  2. Then, add all the basil leaves and let it boil for a minute.
  3. Then add tea leaves and boil it for 2 minutes. After that, when the colour becomes darker, add milk and the colour will change.
  4. Boil it for another minute and then sieve and pour it in the mug. Serve it hot with biscuits.
[One IMPORTANT thing is that you shouldn't waste and throw away the matter that is sieved and left behind. You can use it as manure and add it to you flower pots or other plants.]
